Sandie Stidwill - Marathon Running Fundraiser

Abingdon marathon 2009
Helen's stepmother, Sandie Stidwill, generously offered to run the Marathon de Paris in April this year and donate the sponsorship raised to Helen and Mark's fundraising for the Kilimanjaro trek. Unfortunately, due to illness, Sandie was unable to take part in this event so will be running the Abingdon Marathon in October to fundraise instead.

It is selfless acts such as this that will help inspire Helen and Mark to overcome the challenges of Kilimanjaro and reach the summit.

This will be Sandie's 5th marathon and she is hoping to run it in under 4 hours.
In the zone,
training on the lonely road.
Sandie ran her first marathon in the 1980s in Tunisia. It was the first marathon to be held in Tunisia and Sandie was the first woman to finish. She ran this marathon for World Runners (a charity raising money to alleviate world hunger). Although Sandie continued to run, she didn’t take part in another marathon until 2008 when she was inspired to enter the Abingdon marathon to raise money to help purchase a light-weight wheelchair for her granddaughter Poppy. Since that time, Sandie has run the 2009 Edingburgh and Abingdon marathons.
Please support Sandie's marathon effort by donating via Helen and Mark's JustGiving page
