Sometimes in life, you come across and meet people that have an impact on you as a person. For me one of those people that I have met is Ray Edwards. I have worked for almost 10 years as the centre coordinator at the Bader Gymnasium, which works with and rehabilitates both able and disabled people. I have met many brave and inspirational people over the years but have yet to meet any one else like Ray. Ray became ill in 1987, which left him fighting for his life, with a result of his illness he was left a quad amputee and had to adapt to a new life as a disabled person. One can only imagine how hard that must have been . |

I have worked very closely with Ray over the past year or so, helping him to gain confidence in the gym and improve on he’s fitness levels in-which he has progressed considerably. A couple months ago, Ray asked me if I would join him in climbing Kilimanjaro. Initial reaction was, “are you mad,” but then I spoke him about why he wanted to complete this challenge and I could see that he has the drive, passion, and determination to want to make a difference. The limbless Association is a charity that helps and supports civilian amputees in the uk, the money would help so much and give opportunities to those people that really need it-so please help raise money and awareness every penny helps and I really would love to be part of this challenge. Below are just some of the services that the money will be going towards: Professional and Specialist Amputee Counselling Service, Dedicated Complaints and Advocacy Service, Parliamentary and Campaigns Department, LA Handbook and Educational DVD, Sports & Fitness Department, Education, Training, Sponsorships and Scholarships, Limb Loss User Group Network & Research & Development. |
